Non-Addressable Call Point Response Speed

Summary When connected to a Manual Call Point the Apollo DIN Rail mounting Zone Interface does not raise an interrupt on alarm. This means that the speed of response from the MCP will be insuffi cient to meet BS5939 Part 1.
Systems affected: All systems using Apollo DIN rail mounting zone interface (55000-812) will be affected if manual call points (MCP) are connected to the zone interface,

Issue Identifi ed: Systems will take up to 20 seconds (e.g. 16 seconds on a DX Connexion panel) to recognize that a device has generated an alarm condition. This means that the system will not comply with BS5839 Part 1, which requires a three second response to a manual alarm.

Recommended Action: This issue is a limitation of the loop device so rectifi cation using panel fi rmware update is not possible. Alternative means of connection to a manual call point (e.g. switch monitor) will provide a faster response which will meet the requirements of the installation code of practice.
